OUR HISTORY

Kappa Delta was founded in 1897 at State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Virginia. When creating Kappa Delta, our founders set out to create a sisterhood where each woman could grow into the best version of herself by instilling learning, integrity, service and friendship into each member. Today, Kappa Delta has 168 active collegiate chapters, 260,000+ initiated members, and over 200 alumni chapters nationwide.

The Epsilon Tau chapter of Kappa Delta was founded at Clemson University in 1980. Today, our 350+ sisters are bound to one another through our founding ideal to “promote true friendship among the college girls of our country by inculcating into their hearts and lives those principles of truth, of honor, of duty, without which there can be no true friendship.”

OUR CREED

May we, Sisters in Kappa Delta, strive each day to seek more earnestly the honorable and beautiful things.

May we each day through love of those within our circle, learn to know and understand better those without our circle.

May the diamond shield that guards our love find us each day Truer, Wiser, More Faithful, More Loving, and More Noble.
